From steam distillation of the leaves and young twigs of the plant, Niaouli has a sweet, fresh and camphoraceous odour. It is a great antiseptic, used in hospitals in France as an antiseptic in obstetrics and gynaecology.
Great for a cold or chill, it can be used in chest rubs as it can be beneficial for respiratory problems. Niaouli can also be useful for oily skin and acne. It can also be used in with a carrier oils to create an uplifting and stimulating massage treatment. Niaouli Essential Oil may be used to clean minor wounds – add 5/6 drops of Niaouli to a pint (250mls) of boiled and cooled water and apply directly to the affected area.
